It ain’t over ‘till it’s over, is a famous saying, and it holds true for several May 6 Bay Area city elections that are headed for a runoff Saturday, June 10.

Runoffs are scheduled in Pasadena, El Lago and Pearland mayoral races, along with a few city council races.

Jeff Wagner, a city councilman, and banker John Moon Jr. will continue vying to replace Pasadena Mayor Johnny Isbell, who is term limited. Wagner took 36.47 percent of the vote while Moon received 18.43 percent in a race that included former State Reps. Robert Talton and Gilbert Pena, City Councilwoman Pat Van Houte and Assistant PISD Superintendent Gloria Gallegos as candidates.

El Lago voters also will be heading back to the polls June 10 to pick a new mayor. Mark Briggs was the top vote getter with 253, followed by Ann Vernon with 180 and John Skelton with 152 votes.

Long-time Pearland Mayor Tom Reid topped the voting with 48.85 percent of the ballots, followed by Quentin Wiltz with 45.64 percent and will face each other again June 10 as neither got over 50 percent of the vote.

Pearland voters also will have to decide runoffs for City Council Pos. 5, with J. David Little facing Jude T.A. Smith, and Pos. 7, between Woody Owens and Dalia Kasseb.
