This weekend Judge Lina Hidalgo kicks off the first Civic Saturday event as part of “Talking Transition: Harris County,” a program designed to promote the public’s involvement in shaping the county’s future.
The unprecedented county initiative is simple but ambitious. Civic Saturday: Health is a day-long event where constituents can bring their concerns, ideas and collaborate with leaders who put change in motion. The goal is to learn from and communicate with the community.
The free event is open to the public and complimentary lunch and childcare will be provided. The event will also have the Harris County Public Health Department Mobile Medical Unit from 12- 3pm providing free flu shots, (including high-dose flu shots for seniors ) and enrolling residents in the department’s free public programs.
This is the first of seven such events scheduled around Harris County. To learn more about Talking Transition and other Civic Saturdays, visit https://www.talkingtransition.us/
